Gloria Hotels & Resorts hosts Turkey’s first international canoeing event

    The Gloria Cup Long Distance - 5000M was held at Gloria Hotels & Resorts. This is the first international canoeing event to take place in Turkey.
    Listed in the 2018 competition program of the International Canoe Federation (ICF), the Gloria Cup Long Distance - 5000M was held on March 22. Canoes raced in the Acısu River: creating a natural border between Gloria Hotels & Resorts and the Mediterranean Sea, Belek’s Acısu River is among Antalya's natural wonders.

    Turkey’s participants included 15 athletes. In total, 155 competitors from 13 countries, including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, England, Estonia, Uzbekistan, Colombia, Russia, Serbia, Croatia and Bulgaria, competed in the tournament.

    The Serbian canoeists took the first three places
    The Tournament’s top three rankings in the K1 Adult Women went to three Serbian athletes: Milica Starovic, Kristina Bedocs and Marija Dostanic.
    In the Adult Men category, Belarus’ Aleh Yurenia ranked first, and Kazakhstan’s Ilya Golendov and Andrey Yerguchyov came in second and third, respectively.
    In the C1 Women’s category, Belarusians Alena Nazdrova and Volha Klimava came in first and second, respectively, while Ukraine’s Liudmila Luzan ranked third.

    In the C1 Men's category Belarusian Ivan Patapenka came in first, Lithuania’s Aivis Tints came in second, and Ukraine’s Eduard Shemetylo ranked third.

    Target: 2020 Tokyo Olympics
    In the Tournament’s closing ceremony speech, Turkey Canoe Federation President Alper Cavite Kabakçı offered thanks to Gloria Hotels for hosting the Gloria Cup Long Distance - 5000M, and to Koze Tour for its invaluable organisation of the event. Mr. Kabakçı added that the next target is the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
    Awards to winners in the Adult Women category were presented by Turkey Canoe Federation President Alper Cavit Kabakçı, while awards for winners in the Men’s categories were presented by Deputy Sports General Directorate of the Youth and Sports Ministry, Ömer Altunsoy.
    Elif Özdemir, a member of the Özaltın Holding Board and the Project Manager for the Gloria Sports Arena Project Manager, presented the first prize in the C1 Men category.
